  • Rig Manager - Saudi Arabia Rig Manager, job location: Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia - pre-requisites include High School diploma as a minimum level education, good knowledge of English and preferably Arabic language, this position needs to be filled by candidate, capable of managing several land based oil rigs simultaneously.     Oil and petroleum are the main exports of Saudi Arabia. The oil component of the export income reaches about $US 24 billion. (90% of the revenues). Despite the competition from the behalf of such oil producing countries as Mexico, Venezuela and Canada, Saudi Arabia remains a major exporter of oil to the United States and Japan. The proven oil reserves of Saudi Arabia that can be efficiently drilled for are 261,5 Bln. Barrels. It's almost a quarter of the proven oil reserves in the world. The daily oil production in Saudi Arabia exceeds 8 million Barrels.

    The country's oil industry was nationalized back in the 70s, and currently is under the control and management of the Supreme Petroleum Council. The state company Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) and petrochemical Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) form the basis of the energy sector.

    The main oil fields of Saudi Arabia are Ghawar, Shaphan, Najd, Berry, Manifa, Zuluf, Shaybah, Abu Saaf, Hurusaniya, and Abgeyg. The main foreign companies operating in Saudi Arabia, are AOC (Arabian Oil Company - Japan), ExxonMobil, Shell, and Texaco. The main ports of the country are Jeddah, Jubail, Ras Al-Khafji, Ras Tanura, Yanbu, Zuluf and others. The main pipelines are Petrolayn, IPSA-1, IPSA-2 Abgeyg - Yanbu NGL. Refineries: Aramco - Ras Tanura (capacity 300,000 barrels per day), Rabigh (325,000 barrels per day), Yanbu (190,000 Barrels per day), Riyadh (140,000 barrels per day), Jeddah (42,000 barrels per day), Aramco-Mobil - Yanbu (332,000 barrels per day), Petromin / Shell - Al-Jubail (292,000 barrels per day), Arabian Oil Company - Ras Al-Khafji (30,000 bpd).

    In Saudi Arabia, there are about 77 oil and gas fields. However, the main hydrocarbon reserves of the country are concentrated in eight areas. One of them is Ghawar - the world's largest oil field on land, which has estimated reserves of 70 billion barrels of oil, and Shaphan - the world's largest offshore field, with the proven reserves of 19 billion barrels of oil.

    The Japanese AOC operates 2 offshore fields - Khafji and Hout, producing about 300,000 bpd. American Texaco develops 3 onshore fields - Wafra, South Umm Favaris Gudayr and south, producing more than 200,000 bpd. Texaco signed a contract for the period until 2010 and the US company plans to increase oil production significantly, which means creation of more oil rig jobs both for the country's citizens and foreign oil rig workers alike.

    The US oil companies, active in the oil production industry of Saudi Arabia, are Chevron, ExxonMobil, Texaco, Arco, Conoco, Phillips Petroleum, and Russian Lucoil that offers jobs for Russians, including low end entry level positions of Roustabouts and Roughnecks.
